Why Alaska?  Why Now?

Stillness, quiet, drama and majesty.  The difference between everyday life and our experience in Alaska is so striking that it haunts us long afterwards and the cool wilderness of the great north draws us back.

On an Alaska cruise the passengers stand at windows, on balconies and on outer decks, sometimes singly and sometimes huddled in small groups staring outward.  Occasionally a whale or a mountain goat is spotted and the excitement spreads.  Even frenetic children catch on to the daily ritual of watching, of absorbing the stillness and drama of nature.  An Alaska cruise is an experience like nothing else.  And if you haven't done it, you are missing one of life's quietest adventures.

And now is the time to plan your Alaska cruise.  Now you have more choices of dates, lines and cabins.  And the prices are likely to be higher after the beginning of the year.  So now is the time.  And what a great Christmas present for your family.

Some great options that are available now!  Prices will be higher before you know it!

Norwegian Cruise Line - NCL is offering free upgrades to Balcony cabins when you buy an Oceanview, and free upgrades to Oceanview when you buy an Inside cabin.  Nowhere is the view from your cabin more important than in Alaska.  Prices for the May 13 cruise are $549, $699 and $969 for Inside, Oceanview and Balcony cabins, per person double occupancy.  For later (warmer) cruises the prices go up to $679, $829 and $1289 for the same cabins.  Airfare is additional.  The airfare is another great reason to book early.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line - RCCL has an amazing offer for those who can go early in the season (May 11).  An inside cabin is $559 per person double occupancy, Oceanview is $649 per person, and a Balcony cabin is $1069 per person.  The cruise starts in the incredible city of Vancouver and ends in Seward.

Celebrity Cruises - Celebrity offers the next level in comfort and luxury.  Prices for Alaska start at $699, $899 and $1499 for Inside, Oceanview and Balcony cabins per person double occupancy.  In the middle of summer the prices are higher.  For example the Hubbard Glacier cruise beginning July 6 is priced at $929, $1229 and $1779.  But remember, the premium for a view is definitely worth considering; waking to sunrise on a fjord is an experience you will never forget.

Princess Cruises - Princess has a long tradition in the region and is offering the May 14 sailing Balcony cabin for $1099 per person double occupancy.  For a longer cruise (10 nights) and a more unique experience, you can take the Glacier Bay cruise on 4 different dates.  This National Park allows very limited access due to the fragile nature of the ecosystem.  The pricing for the Balcony and Inside cabins is $2199 and $1399 per person double occupancy.

Holland America Line - Holland America has one of the most extensive Alaska offerings.  The May 24 Alaska Explorer itinerary roundtrip from Seattle offers pricing of $699 for an inside cabin and $1299 for a Verandah Suite per person double occupancy.

Carnival Cruise - Carnival takes on an entirely different personality when it reaches the quiet water of the Inside Passage.  So you shouldn't assume that the fun ships don't suit you when selecting your Alaska cruise.  And the Carnival Spirit has excellent balcony cabins at very reasonable prices ranging from $939 to $1429 per person double occupancy depending on the date of the sailing.  Inside cabins are $649-879 for the same cruises.

Luxury Lines such as Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Crystal Cruises and Silversea also offer Alaska sailings.

Pricing for Alaska Cruises excludes airfare, government taxes and fees.
